Marina Kozak Interview
Marina Kozak is Design Director at Pitchfork. In addition to her work for the brand, she’s currently working on a conversational card game, called “Finestra," meant to catalyze deep conversation through a series of questions.
How did you get to where you are today, professionally?
I started out as a Graphic Designer in the Product Development Department at Radio Flyer, the children’s toy company most famous for their “little red wagons”. Children’s toys weren’t really “my thing” but my role did give me the opportunity to learn 3D modeling, ultimately paving the way for the rest of my career.
While at Radio Flyer, my best friend and I started a passion project called ‘Shrub Society’, a series of immersive underground events. Through Shrub, I was able to combine my 2D and 3D skills to create dark existentially themed events. For each event, I design graphics, build sets, and even coordinate live performances. Eventually, these parties got noticed and came above ground, allowing me to work with clients like Soho House, and Lulu Lemon doing 2D and 3D design for their events.
