Lucreccia Quintanilla Interview
Lucreccia Quintanilla is an artist, educator, and co-director of the Naarm (Melbourne) sound org Liquid Architecture, which supports experimental, interdisciplinary, and critical work addressing sound and listening in context.
How did you get to where you are today, professionally?
I am an artist, sound system operator, and educator and academic and event organiser. I have always been interested in music, dancing, writing and anything to do with art making. Growing up, members of my extended family were very creative. In many ways, everything that I continue to do professionally has a direct relationship with what I saw was creatively possible as a young girl. These musicians, designers, crafts people, and some family members who are really good with their word play and humour have left quite an impression on me.
I have always been interested in ideas and have followed through with my commitment to the thread which connects all of these interests, which I see in many ways as culture. This has meant working too hard for not enough money for a lot of my career.
