Chris Dalla Riva Interview
Chris Dalla Riva is a writer, musician, and senior product manager at Audiomack. Chris’s writing, much of which can be found on his newsletter, Can’t Get Much Higher, is often data-driven.
How did you get to where you are today, professionally?
I have been deeply interested in music for as long as I can remember. I started taking guitar lessons in 6th grade and by the beginning of high school I was recording (horrible) demos in my bedroom, burning them to CDs, and handing them to anybody that would listen. At the same time, my interest in the arts were coupled with an interest in mathematics. So, when I went to college, I got degrees in both math and economics while still writing music and fronting a band in my spare time.
After college, I worked in economics consulting for two years in the Boston area. I really disliked that work, but during that time, I got to play a ton of great shows in the Boston area and really hone my skills as a songwriter. In 2019, I moved back home to New Jersey and was lucky enough to get a job working on data analytics at Audiomack, a music streaming service with tens of millions of monthly users. In the years since, I've continued to work at Audiomack but have shifted some of my focus to building features on our app and website focused on analytics and personalization.
